Ep. 33 Connecting Working Moms Through Faith

matrescence parent support podcast

As a working mom, balancing family, career, and personal fulfillment can often feel overwhelming. In this episode from Loving Lessons Learned, I sat down with Stephanie Llorente, founder of "Restored," a community for career-minded moms. Together, we explored how moms can create meaningful connections, embrace self-care, and prioritize family values—all while working through daily challenges.

The Need for Community Among Working Moms
Motherhood can be isolating, especially when balancing it with a career. Stephanie shared her personal story, revealing that Restored began from a place of need. “I needed a community of like-minded women who could support me in my faith, job, and friendships,” she explained. Through events like happy hours, co-working days, and coffee chats, Stephanie’s community is a space where working moms can reconnect and support each other.

Balancing Work, Family, and Faith
One of the standout messages from Stephanie was the importance of setting priorities: "Faith first, family second, and then work and friendships.” When we lose sight of this order, feelings of imbalance and stress can quickly take over. In her community, Stephanie encourages moms to show up authentically, whether they can attend one event a month or several, without guilt. Her advice: find small ways to stay in touch with faith, family, and friendships.

Self-Care Beyond the Basics
Stephanie’s self-care secret? A 20-minute nap. She speaks my love language.  This small act keeps her energized, especially as a night owl who juggles various commitments. As parents, we often neglect self-care, but Stephanie reminds us that it can look different for everyone. Screen time for the kids while you rest or even setting aside a monthly “me” day can be restorative.

How to Balance Work, Family, and Faith as a Mom

Stephanie's community aims to make things easier for working moms by offering a variety of resources:

  • Easy-to-Attend Events: From virtual coffee chats to in-person meetups, Restored events are designed to fit seamlessly into a busy mom’s schedule.
  • Guides and Resources: Topics range from tech safety for kids to managing ADHD in the family, offering support for moms navigating these concerns.
  • Focus on Faith and Family: With tools and guides that reinforce spiritual values, Stephanie's resources encourage parents to integrate faith into family routines naturally.

Why Sleep Matters in Family Harmony
At the heart of both our missions is the goal of a well-rested family. Lack of sleep can erode patience, compassion, and resilience. When we take intentional steps toward better sleep routines, it’s not just our kids who benefit but the entire household. My work with Loving Lessons and Stephanie’s focus on community offer different paths to that shared goal: a calm, connected, and rested home.

Motherhood and a career don’t have to be at odds. Through the support of communities like Restored and resources like Loving Lessons Sleep Solutions, moms can regain control and joy in their everyday lives. Join us on this journey, where each step is taken with grace, compassion, and intentionality.
